ZANU-PF Manicaland provincial youth executive has endorsed the suspension of provincial youth chairman, Cde Mubuso Chinguno, saying it was long overdue.

Speaking during a meeting held at the Provincial Administrator’s Conference Room yesterday (Thursday), speaker after speaker, hailed national youth league executive for its bold decision to suspend Cde Chinguno whom they said was leading them astray.

Cde Chinguno was suspended for allegedly abusing funds meant for youths stands in Chipinge. Cde Tawanda Tswatswa from Makoni set the ball rolling and said: “Disgruntlement was rife over Cde Chinguno’s leadership. We want to thank our national executive for coming to our rescue because we were suffering in silence.

Cde Chinguno has dictatorial tendencies and at times we would be taken aback by his decisions which he purported where from the entire executive yet they were his personal decisions.

Divisions in the party were now rife and we do not want rumour mongers in our midst.”

Cde Kudzai Madhara also from Makoni said: “We should have taken the lead as the provincial executive to call for Cde Chinguno’s suspension, but our leaders have shown us the light and we hail them for that. Cde Mubuso abused a lot of resources meant for the youth league and he is trying to drag our leadership into his mess. We will not allow him to do so. All these years, he was misleading the nation into believing that he is a super patriot, but it is high time we expose all his shenanigans.

“During our last Provincial Co-ordination Committee meeting as youths, we all agreed that we rally behind the Women’s League’s resolution to have a woman Vice-President, but we were all shocked when Cde Chinguno personalised that resolution.

“As the youth league, we want to reiterate our support to President Mugabe and the First Lady, Dr Amai Grace Mugabe. Cde Chinguno has been tarnishing the name of the youth league for a long time and he should carry his own cross. All investigations of abuses of finances should be carried out and he should be put on his defence,” he said.

Cdes Faith Muyambo and Tendai Gurenje from Chimanimani also concurred and said Cde Chinguno had failed the youth league and deserved to be suspended.

“Cde Chinguno has a long history of duping youths. This goes back to the days of Chiadzwa diamond mining where many people in Chimanimani were duped to part with their hard earned money on the pretext that he would secure employment for them at Chiadzwa,” said Cde Gurenje.

Acting chairperson and Central Committee member, Cde Betty Kudzi Dhliwayo, called for unity among party members.

“We say no to factionalism in Manicaland. We promised that come 2018 President Mugabe will be in the office and we still stand by that promise. We want unity in Manicaland,” she said.
