THE Manicaland Agricultural Show got underway yesterday (Thursday), amid expectations of more than 63 organisations expected to exhibit their products and services.
The curtain comes down on the annual fete on Sunday which is running under the theme: “Creating a platform for economic take off.”

In a recent interview with this newspaper, Manicaland Show Society acting manager Mr Dennis Makiwa urged organisations and companies to register for space since a quarter of the space left for commercial companies was yet to be occupied.

“This year’s edition will see companies from Harare prospecting opportunities in the local market.

“This year’s event will be bigger and better in all aspects. There will be lots of entertainment.

“The likes of Sulumani Chimbetu, Juicer Mpostori as well as a Zambian musical outfit are expected to wow hundreds of people expected to attend the annual event. A motorbike expert from the Democratic Republic of Congo is also among the cast to entertain people,” he said.

He added that big companies like Cairns Foods who had not been exhibiting for the past six years will also be part of the show.

“This year’s event promises to be bigger and better since most companies have realised the power of advertising and marketing.

“We welcome Cairns Foods as well as Mash East Grasslands from Marondera who will be providing quite a number of livestock.

“It will be quite a relief considering yester-year woes where a few beasts were on exhibition. We are putting everything together in line with Government’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset, as various players, particularly farmers from all the seven districts in Manicaland province, were invited to exhibit their produce,” he said.
