TODAY, Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to honour the achievements of women across the globe and throughout history.
This day is not just about celebration, but also about reflection, advocacy and action.
International Women’s Day was first observed in the early 20th century as an event to promote equal rights for women, including the right to vote.

Each year, International Women’s Day carries a theme, and this year’s theme is: “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”.
On this International Women’s Day, we are honouring women in our lives, our mothers, sisters, friends and colleagues as we take a moment to appreciate their contributions, celebrate their achievements, and stand with them in their struggles. Together, we can make a difference and create a more balanced world.
