Health Reporter—

MANICALAND’S leading newspaper and radio station, The Manica Post and Diamond FM will join  other corporates in a clean-up campaign in Mutare’s Central Business District today (Friday).

The clean-up campaign will run from 12-midday to 2pm at the city’s busiest areas like Moto-Moto and bus termini.

The Manica Post and Diamond FM will be partnered by other corporates like Fawcett Security, TelOne, Mutare Bottling Company, Environmental Management Agency and Mutare City Council.

A number of artistes will also be participating in the clean-up exercise.

The Manica Post Sales and Distribution Manager, Mrs Liz Mushonga, confirmed the clean-up campaign and said it was part of Zimpapers’ corporate social responsibility.

“The clean-up campaign is part of our corporate social responsibility as well as expressing our gratitude for the continuous support we are getting from the people of Manicaland.

We will be joining hands with other companies to play our part in ensuring that Mutare continues enjoying its status as one of the cleanest cities in Zimbabwe.

“As Zimpapers, we are very grateful for the continuous support we are getting from our advertisers, readers and listeners and we saw it fit to thank all stakeholders through this clean-up campaign. We are where we are today because of the Mutare community which has stood with us through thick and thin,” she said.

Mrs Mushonga said other companies had also expressed their willingness to partner The Manica Post and Diamond FM in the clean-up campaign, but were still to confirm their participation at the time of going to Press.

Besides being a corporate social responsibility programme, the clean-up will accord the Mutare community and visitors to the city a chance to meet and interact with their favourite journalists and radio presenters.

“All our personnel from journalists and presenters will be there to meet and interact with the Mutare community.

This is a rare opportunity where journalists will meet and mingle with the community outside their newsroom and studio. We encourage everyone interested to come on board and be part of this historic event for Mutare,” said Mrs Mushonga.

Participants will meet at the Meikles Park before deployment to various centres for the clean-up campaign.
