NYANGA South Member of National Assembly, Cde Supa Mandiwanzira, recently handed over earth moving equipment to the constituency to rehabilitate roads which are in an appalling state.

Handing over the machine to Kute Village in Ward 14, Cde Mandiwanzira, who is also the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, said office bearers should adhere to President Mugabe’s calls to work for the people. “This machine is not from the Central Mechanical and Engineering Department. It is not from the District Development Fund or from the Ministry of Transport (and Infrastructural Development), it is mine. I took heed of your concerns that some of the roads are small and almost inaccessible and bought the machine to rehabilitate the roads. We should work together for the development of the constituency.

“President Mugabe told us to use what we have to ensure development. He always urges us (elected officials) to work for the people and be your servants. You will only buy diesel. This is my humble way of saying thank you on behalf of President Mugabe. I am giving you the machine and the operator. I am here to see that roads are rehabilitated,” he said.

The machine has also been used by schools in the constituency to rehabilitate soccer and netball fields. So far the road from Mangondoza Business Centre to Charamba is under rehabilitation.

The grader will soon be working on the Mapako and Nyangombe Bridge Road. Cde Mandiwanzira also handed over two laptops to two Nyanga High Marist Brothers students, Takudzwa Kaitano and one Mahwire who scored 18 and 17 As respectively during last year’s November Zimsec Ordinary Level examinations.

“If I had acquired my education here, I would probably be better than what and who I am today, probably not just an MP or a minister, because the school produces real gems. As a member of the National Assembly for this area, I am so proud that Nyanga has done well across the country academically, thanks to schools such as St Mary’s Magdalene, Mt Mellary and St David’s Bonda. They put Manicaland and my constituency on the national calendar of excellence,” said an elated Cde Mandiwanzira.

He also handed over a complete soccer kit to the school’s male football team and pledged to assist a Division Two soccer outfit, Zero Stars Nyanga, in their quest to fight for a spot in Division One and ultimately the top-flight league.

The team is under the Nyanga is Supa Foundation. He recently opened a constituency office at Nyanga Library in Rochdale which will be used to coordinate developmental issues in Nyanga.
