A RUSAPE man allegedly sexually abused his wife’s 14-year-old sister after luring her with chips and drinks.

Edson Hardson (27) of Vengere who is represented by Mr Walter Mangwende of Chigadza and Associates was granted $12 000 bail by Rusape magistrate, Mr Gift Manyika when he appeared before him facing rape charges.

Hardson was remanded out of custody to today (Friday).

Prosecutor, Mrs Joice Tinarwo said Hardson snatched the juvenile from church, and drove her to Mutare before returning to Rusape where he abused her in the car.

“On October 7, Hardson drove his car to ZAOGA Church in Vengere where the girl and her brother were attending a church service.

“The accused took the girl, and her brother to a local shop, and bought them some chips and drinks. He left the boy at the shop, and ferried four people to Mutare in the company of the complainant. After dropping the four in Mutare, the two returned to Rusape. Upon arrival in Rusape, Hardson parked his car at Max Village Complex and locked all doors.

“He abused the complainant who was screaming for help, but no one came to her rescue. After the abuse, Hardson and complainant went to the shop to collect the girl’s brother. Hardson dropped the two near their house,” said Mrs Tinarwo.

Mrs Tinarwo further stated that the complainant’s parents quizzed her about where she was, but she remained silent.

They chased her away.

“The complainant’s parents questioned her why she came home late, but she remained silent. The brother revealed that Hardson had taken them to the shops. Her parents assaulted her, but she escaped and fled to Hardson’s house. The following morning, the complainant’s sister sent her back home, but she did not reach home. Her parents then filed a missing person report to the police.

“The girl’s parents later found her at ZAOGA Church and was taken home. She was medically examined at the hospital where she revealed her ordeal to the nurse. The matter was reported to the police,” said Mrs Tinarwo.
