A 37-YEAR-OLD Chipinge man who always bayed for his parents’ blood last Thursday finally fulfilled his mission after he killed his father (83) in cold blood by bludgeoning him with a log.
Wilson Simango was arrested after murdering his father, Mr Mandongwe Simango, who was warming himself up in the kitchen hut.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident which happened in Chief Garahwa’s area in Chipinge.
He said soon after committing the heinous act, Wilson shouted to neighbours that he had killed his father.
“Wilson was staying alone about 200 metres away from his late father’s homestead and used to threaten his parents that he would kill them.
On March 17, Wilson stormed into the deceased’s kitchen hut where he was warming himself on the fire.
“Mr Simango’s wife, Ms Julia Sithole, had gone to fetch some water at a nearby homestead.
“As Ms Sithole was fetching the water, she saw Wilson going to their homestead while holding an empty metal tin. After a few minutes, she heard a thudding sound coming from the kitchen hut.
“She also heard Wilson shouting at Mr Simango. Sensing danger, Ms Sithole cried out for help and ran to a neighbour’s house seeking help. Other villagers who heard Ms Sithole screaming proceeded to her homestead to render assistance.
“Wilson stormed out of the house and shouted ‘Ndini ndamuuraya’ (I have killed him).
“Ms Sithole and other villagers went inside and saw the deceased lying helplessly in a pool of blood. He had sustained serious injuries on the head and left arm,” said Inspector Muzondo.
Mr Simango showed his wife and other villagers the log which his son had used to attack him.
He was rushed to Mabeye Clinic where he was attended to before his condition deteriorated.
He died on March 18 after succumbing to the injuries he sustained from the attack.
Villagers effected a citizen arrest and handed over Wilson to the police.
