CHIREDZI-BASED Lowveld United and Zaka Academy are facing expulsion from the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League after failing to pay affiliation fees.
The two teams have been given a three-match ultimatum to pay up the required US$1 300.
ZIFA Eastern Region vice chairman, Simba Wisdom confirmed the development.
“Lowveld United and Zaka Academy are currently on suspension for not paying their affiliation fees. The fee has an US$800 component and the remainder is in local currency at the prevailing rate on the day the payment is made.
“We gave them a three-game grace period and one match has already lapsed. The two teams have up to tomorrow midday to pay up or they will be inactive during this weekend’s fixtures,” said Wisdom.
According to the league’s statues, any team that fails to fulfil three consecutive fixtures will be expelled.
The pair had played 21 games before their suspension.
Post Sport understands that Lowveld are also yet to settle outstanding match fees.
