AS Zimbabwe prepares for the Heroes’ and Defence Forces commemorations next Monday and Tuesday, Zanu PF’s Mutare District Coordinating Committee (DCC) secretary for women affairs, Cde Loreen Mukodza has called on Zimbabweans to continue cherishing the gains brought about by the liberation war heroes’ sacrifices as a way of honouring them.

Cde Mukodza applauded the equal access to education accorded to men and women in Zimbabwe, saying it is evident of the fruits of those sacrifices.

She also hailed the representation of women in the National Assembly and Senate.

“A lot of strides have been made in the education sector since independence, resulting in the elevation of women through such policies like education for all. Unlike in the past, women can now go all the way with their tertiary education.

“We hail the Second Republic for continuing to avail opportunities for women in leadership positions through the realisation that they are able to make a difference, too,” said Cde Mukodza.

She urged people in Manicaland to remain steadfast in consolidating the gains brought about by the heroes’ sacrifices as this contributes to national development.

Cde Mukodza also encouraged women to actively participate in politics so that they can articulate issues affecting them as well as amplify their voices.
