TWO Swift Mutare depot managers are alleged to have defrauded the company of $1 590 by claiming money for subsistence allowances for journeys not made.
Innocent Goredema( 41) a territory accounts manager and Precious Marimbe(29) a operations manager denied the charges when they appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura on Tuesday morning.
Representing the pair was Mr Farai Matinhure of Gonese and Ndlovu Legal Practitioners, as Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
The pair faced 10 counts of defrauding Swift Depot, Mutare $730 after they allegedly booked out some the money for travelling subsistence allowances to different destinations and converted the money and fuel to their own uses.
“Goredema and Marimbe were allocated some fuel in a company motor vehicle, Mazda B1800 registration number AAP 2557 for the journeys.
“After getting money and fuel for the journeys, Goredema who was the driver and Marimbe did not travel to the intended journeys. The vehicle which is on mobile tracking indicated that the vehicle was at all times parked at Goredema’ residence,” said Mr Karombe.
Further allegations were that, on a separate matter, Goredema, the territory accounts manager for Mutare, Rusape, Masvingo, Chipinge and Chiredzi Swift Depot branches allegedly defrauded Swift Depot, Mutare of $820 on nine several occasions using the same tactics as in the first matter.
He denied all nine of them.
On another separate matter, Marimbe, an Operations Manager for the Nyanga branch denied the charges of defrauding the Swift Depot, Mutare of $40 after having given money for travel expenses and fuel and put it to her own use.
The pair was remanded out of custody on $50 bail to February 9.
