THE scenic Vumba area was hit by landslides during the weekend leaving the road to the Eastern Highlands prime tourist destination Leopard Rock Hotel impassabble.
The landslides are a result of heavy rainfall and massive land degradation in the area.
Leopard Rock staff managed to open the road yesterday awaiting assistance from ZINARA and other key stakeholders.
Manicaland Road Engineer Mr Atherton Zindoga confirmed that a contractor is already clearing the road.
“We have had a contractor working on that road in Cyclone Idai repair works and the same contractor is now on the ground.
“We managed to open the road yesterday so that motorists can pass but now the contractor is carrying out the the remaining works in clearing the landslides that fell on the road,” he said.
