SEASONED Sakubva-bred midfielder Willard Katsande was yesterday on target to help his side Sekhukhune United clinch a convincing 2-0 victory against AmaZulu in a South African DStv Premiership match.
The former Highway midfielder opened the account three minutes after the restart as the league debutants chalked up their third successive win, taking them to fourth on the table.
He latched onto a flicked header from a corner kick to bury his effort at the back post as the ambitious Johannesburg club raced into a deserved lead that their industry merited.
The strike was Katsande’s first for this season as well as in Sekhukhune United colours.
However, the former Warriors captain was subbed off in the 64th minute after his telling contribution.
After missing some previous games, the gritty midfielder was restored in the starting XI for the past two matches and he has not disappointed.
Despite being reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Pogiso Mahlangu, they still managed to cling onto their lead and win the tie.
Sekhukhune United will be looking forward to continue with their impressive start to the season when they square off against Soweto giants Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Meanwhile, it was a bad day in office for veteran Mutare-bred goalkeeper Washington Arubi as his team Marumo Gallants went down 1-0 away to Stellenbosch in another league duel played yesterday.
The struggling Nedbank Cup champions stay second from bottom following the loss.
