A CHIPINGE school, Chimana Secondary School, closed on Monday after the community led by the School Development Committee accused some teachers of dabbling in satanism.

Tensions have been simmering at the school since May last year following the death of a female teacher under unclear circumstances.

Strange happenings at the school bordering on mysticism and satanism have been reported.

Some teachers and pupils have been fainting without any medical cause leaving the school with an enrolment of slightly more than 300 pupils and the community dumbfounded.

Chipinge District Schools Inspector, Mr Richard Gabaza, this week dispatched a team of investigators made up of Mrs Locardia Meda, Mr Isaiah Masona and the human resources Officer, Mr Dezman Mwadira to get to the bottom of the matter.

He said he will comment after the conclusion of the investigations.

“I can only say allegations of satanism have been levelled against certain members of staff at Chimana Secondary School, but for now I cannot comment as investigations are still in progress,” said Mr Gabaza.
