THE Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development is set to construct an industrial training college in Chipinge.
The development comes after Chipinge Town Council availed 5,8 hectares for the construction of the skills college in Usanga.
Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Deputy Minister, Honourable Raymore Machingura confirmed the development and said the industrial training college will train locals in skills development in line with the country’s mantra of modernisation and industrialisation.
“I can confirm that the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education was offered land by Chipinge Town Council to build a skills development college where youths in the district and the country at large will be enrolled. We want youths to acquire the relevant skills to earn a living as well as uplift their lives under the Heritage-based Education 5.0 Policy.
“As a ministry, we have realised that we should develop skills that will help people to produce goods and services for the country, based on the human needs such as shelter and food,” said Deputy Minister Machingura.
He said they are racing against time to construct the college.
In a letter written to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education by Chipinge Town Council’s housing director, Mr Edson Mujanga says the development on the stand should be done within two years.
“The council is pleased to offer you an institutional stand in Usanga area of Chipinga Township, measuring 5,8 hectares for the purpose of building an industrial training college.
“The offer has a condition that you will not pay any plot service fees for the stand, but you are expected to provide services such as water, sewage and roads on the site on your own,” reads part of the letter.
