MANICALAND’S tourism and hospitality sector is bearing the brunt of the surging Covid-19 cases, with the operations of players in the industry being negatively affected, the Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) has said.

HAZ Manicaland provincial chairperson Mr Charlton Chimbira said Covid-19 related restrictions such as the ban on intercity travel have resulted in a relative decline of the tourism business.

Manicaland Province is home to some of the finest tourist attractions in the country, but has experienced low tourism activity owing to the ravaging effects of the pandemic during the national lockdown.

Despite the downturn in business, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has, however, implored the tourism and hospitality sector to continue adhering to the lockdown measures in place.
