THE World Cup was un-contentiously decided at Maracana Stadium in Brazil on Sunday, July 13: German 1 Argentina 0.
The best team won and the World Cup carnivals and “funerals” are over. Congratulations to the winners, and commiseration to the losers! After all, football is only a game.
I want to remind my English Language students to remember not only the beautiful game, but also the beautiful language. Here is my last list of some of the beautiful expressions used by the flaming commentators and analysts:
