THE long arm of the law finally caught up with a Rusape daring security guard who five years ago allegedly stole a tractor and an electric grinding mill from his employer.

Claudius Munemo (43) of Vengere who is represented by Mr Munyaradzi Manyengavana of Manyengavana Law Chambers was arraigned before Rusape magistrate, Mr Obedience Matare facing one count of stealing the property from prominent businessman, Mr Basil Nyabadza’s company.

He pleaded guilty to the offence when trial commenced today.

Public prosecutor, Mrs Oripa Sagandira said Munemo sold the tractor to another person and police later recovered it.

“The complainant is Mr Munyaradzi Makuwe who is employed as a field manager at Reapers (Pvt) Limited, Rusape. Munemo was once employed by the company as a security officer.

“On an unknown date, but during the period extending from September 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017, Munemo took advantage of Makuwe’s absence to steal a Y10 tractor and an electric grinding mill from the farm,” said Mrs Sagandira.

She said Munemo sold the tractor to Nicholas Zunga of Mabvazuva, Rusape.

“Sometime in June 2020, Makuwe discovered the offence and made a police report. Investigations carried out led to the recovery of the stolen tractor from Nicholas Zunga and Munemo was later arrested.

“The total value stolen of the stolen goods is $1 050 000,” said Mrs Sagandira.
