Accommodation and conference facility, Golden Peacock Villa Hotel continues to make an impact in communities through giving hope to the less privileged and changing lives.

Golden Peacock is also being upgraded to become the most preferred tourism destination.

The hotel is currently upgrading its rooms, starting with the exquisite villas, to meet international standards.

The hotel continues to be a prime choice for travellers, thanks to the spacious and spotless rooms that have immaculate décor and crisp bedding, coupled with sumptuous cuisine as well as professional and attentive staff.

Golden Peacock, an accredited three-star facility, is strategically positioned near plush mountains to give visitors a beautiful ambience.

Mountains, in general, are unique features of beauty, peace, austerity and spirituality.

Talking of spirituality, the hotel has established a chaplin’s department to nourish guests’ souls and encourage them to have a strong relationship with God.

Under the able leadership of the hotel’s general manager, Mr Adonis Mutigwe, the hotel is on the verge of completing the construction of a new 400-seater conference facility which will make it the biggest conferencing option in Manicaland Province.

They have also upped the game in rehabilitating the hotel’s outdoor outlook with some plant life and clear signage from the entrance.

Apart from infrastructural establishments, the hotel has also made tremendous strides in its community responsibility programmes.

In 2021, the hotel handed over bed linen, hand sanitisers, face masks, rice, maize-meal and salt, among other things, to Mutare Probation Hostel.

To revive their relationship with the probation centre, they recently formed a social soccer team that will use the centre’s soccer ground as their home ground on a weekly basis.

As part of charity, every team they host will come with donations in any form and hand them over to the centre.

The noble idea will go a long way in catering for the children’s day-to-day needs.

The institution has been facing a plethora of challenges, among them the lack of resources to cater for the children’s welfare.

The hotel recently hosted a mini-social soccer charity tournament at the centre where teams in the mining, retail and hospitality sectors clashed.

The teams that participated were Anjin, MAJESA, Golden Peacock and OK Mart.

Golden Peacock also sponsored a cooking competition during the festival and winners won cash and accommodation vouchers.

The hotel also saw eight students they took on board as interns graduating at Simukai.

Mr Mutigwe believes the hotel is heading in the right direction.

“These are exciting times for us. We are going in the right direction and we are happy that we are changing lives in the community we live in. We are happy with the progress so far.

“The hotel’s management and staff are playing a complementary role in ensuring that we impact lives in the community.

“The formation of a soccer team shows that we are in for bigger things ahead in terms of giving back to the society. Every team that we host will bring something for the kids.

“Although I have to check with other players, I am sure we have scored a first by establishing a chaplain’s department at the hotel, that will surely meet guests’ spiritual needs,” he said.
