A WELL-KNOWN Chimanimani traditional healer is being sued for allegedly tormenting his late client’s family and forcibly confiscating their 12 cattle as payment for a wealth enhancing goblin that was acquired from him in the 1960s.

Noel Ngirande, popularly known as Sekuru Malamulela, is threatening that if nothing is done to settle the debt, the spirit that manifests in him will strike the Magaa family.

He alleges that the spirit told him that people who owe him need to pay up as his days on earth are now numbered.

Sekuru Malamulela says the late Silas Makunde-Magaa acquired a goblin worth two beasts, one of which was paid upfront, with the promise of paying the other one on a later date.

However, he never handed over the remaining beast.

The matter was recently heard at Chief Muusha’s court in Chimanimani.

The Magaa family of Chikukwa Village under Chief Chikukwa had to seek recourse from Chief Muusha’s court as they indicated that their late father never mentioned that he had acquired a goblin on credit.

But Sekuru Malamulela insists that the late Magaa, who was 86 years old when he died last year, allegedly acquired the goblin when he was still a teenager.

In an interview, the late Silas’ son, Liberty Magaa denied that his late father possessed a goblin.

“Sekuru Malamulela claims that my father bought a wealth enhancing goblin from him in the 1960s, but it is evident that he is lying because we grew up poor.

“He says the goblin would help my father to acquire more wealth in the form of cattle, but we grew up looking after my uncle’s cattle and the herd was never more than 15. Sekuru Malamulela is a liar because my father never told us of this story before his death.

“We did not know of this Sekuru Malamulela until after our father’s death. He is a con-artist. My father died last year, why did he not come to the funeral and make his claim? Why wait until we had all left for South Africa to make these bizarre claims? He wants to con my sisters into surrendering the cattle. He should produce proof for his claims,” said Liberty.

He said Sekuru Malamulela sent his messenger to collect the cattle and said they had accrued penalties of 11 other beasts.
On July 3, the messenger collected 12 cattle and left the Magaa family with nothing.

In an interview with Weekender, Sekuru Malamulela insisted that the late Magaa bought a wealth enhancing goblin from him and promised to pay him later.

“Vangade kuramba zvavo asi baba vavo vakaromba kwandiri. Hakuna munhu anoromba oudza mwana wake. Anga asati abarwa uyu saka haangarambi zvaasingazivi. Akaramba achiramba ndinomupa sign yacho yaari kuda manje manje.

(They might deny that, but their father acquired a goblin from me. No one acquires goblins and confesses that to their children. Liberty was not yet born, so he cannot deny knowledge of this. If he keeps on insisting that I am lying, I will use him as a demonstration of the spirit’s vengeance.)

“I am well known across Africa as I have clients from the length and breadth of this continent, yet this boy is denying knowledge of my existence.

“My spirit has foretold my death. I was instructed to tell my debtors that if they fail to pay up before my death, they will be haunted forever. They will have challenges trying to appease my spirit when I am gone. They should be grateful that they are being given a chance to make peace with my spirit while it is still possible. Dragging me to court exacerbates everything,” said Sekuru Malamulela.

However, he said he never sent a messenger to the Magaa family.

He claims that the family was conned by one Lovemore Neshiri who collected the cattle for his own benefit.

“Neshiri heard that I wanted to collect 12 cattle from the Magaa family and went behind my back to collect them. He also conned me. He should be brought to book. The Magaa family should pay me what they owe me before I die,” said Sekuru Malamulela.

Chief Muusha said the matter will appear before his court on Sunday with Neshiri being summoned to clarify why he collected the cattle from the Magaas.
