COOPERATIVES carrying out projects under the community and Women Development Fund have been urged to register their groups.
This, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Nyanga said, will enable Government to regulate their operations as it will be aware of of their activities.
Community development officer for Nyanga District in the ministry Mr Tatenda Sunwa said formal registration will give the groups an opportunity to be recognised and offers them opportunities to sell their produce on the formal market.
“We are going around in the communities encouraging those groups involved in community gardens, animal husbandry, apiculture and other income-generating activities to get formally registered with us, after which they receive a certificate.
“This is in their best interest because besides carrying out their activities in an organised and coordinated way, it will also enable them to access loan facilities,” said Mr Sunwa.
The move is also aimed at having the cooperatives’ operations run smoothly, Mr Sunwa added.
Government recently introduced the Women Development Fund to support women entrepreneurs through access to funding in order to boost their activities.
