A MARRIED Nyazura man has been slapped with a five-year jail term after he decided to quench his insatiable appetite for sex by deflowering a 15-year-old girl.

Bruce Chabuka (30) of Muberekwa Village was initially charged with rape, before Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Francis Mapfumo convicted him of statutory rape.

On passing judgement, Mr Mapfumo had no kind words for Chabuka as he reminded him that he had deflowered a minor half his age.

Public prosecutor, Mr Roy Weja told the court that after abusing the Form Three student, Chabuka told her not to reveal the matter to anyone as doing so would result in her getting arrested for being intimate with a married man.

“Sometime in November 2019, Chabuka proposed love to the juvenile and she accepted the proposal. Chabuka and the complainant are therefore lovers.

“On December 30, 2019 at around 4.30pm, the girl went to a grinding mill at Nedziwe Business Centre and met Chabuka in a bushy area.

“He dragged her to the bush. As the girl tried to resist, Chabuka overpowered her and sexually abused her. After the act, the accused person misled the complainant by telling her that is she reported the matter to anyone she would be arrested for sleeping with a married man,” said Mr Weja.

The matter came to light when the complainant told her mother about the incident. A police report was made, thereby leading to Chabuka’s arrest.
