A HEADLANDS-BASED farm manager has learnt it the hard way that adultery is an expensive game after being fined four beasts for dating a married woman.

Godfrey Chiromo’s shenanigans with Wilfred Nyakuedzwa’s wife, Sithembile caused serious fights between the couple, resulting in Nyakuedzwa stabbing his wife.

While Nyakuedzwa was languishing in remand prison, the two cheating lovebirds continued dating.

Even after Nyakuedzwa’s release, the two continued seeing each other.

Nyakuedzwa last week dragged Chiromo to Chief Makoni’s court demanding compensation from the farm manager.

“I first came across some love messages in my wife’s cellphone. I instituted my own investigations. I closely monitored my wife’s movements as I wanted to know the man who was texting her.

“One day I saw my wife walking with another man in Rusape town. The man quickly disappeared from the scene. We fought with my wife and I stabbed her with a knife.

“I was arrested and locked in remand prison for two months awaiting trial. When I left prison, I stumbled upon love messages and audios in my wife’s cellphone where Chiromo was asking my wife if I was around.

“I kept on trekking Chiromo and managed to locate him at a farm in Headlands. When I confronted him, he admitted dating my wife since 2020.

“I want to be compensated with 10 beasts,” Nyakuedzwa told the community court.

Chiromo admitted dating Nyakuedzwa’s wife, but claimed that Sithembile lied to him that she was single.

“It is true that I dated this woman out of ignorance. She did not disclose to me that she was a married woman.

“She said she was single and had a boyfriend she was having issues with. I was surprised when Nyakuedzwa visited my workplace in the company of other men accusing me of dating his wife.

“He dragged me to the police, but we were advised to settle the issue amicably. He threatened me and out of fear, I admitted dating his wife,” said Chiromo.

However, Sithembile threw Chiromo under the bus when she told the court that he was fully aware that she is a married woman.

“Chiromo knew very well that I am a married woman. He used to visit my shop where everyone refers me as Mai Nyakuedzwa. When my husband was in remand prison, I was not sure whether a reunion will be possible since I was bitter that he had stabbed me, so I continued dating Chiromo.

“We slept several times and we used protection once. The affair with him started before my husband was locked up. We continued when he was released,” said Sithembile.

The court fined Chiromo four beasts and ordered him to reimburse Nyakuedzwa US$70 as the costs of the lawsuit.
