A Mutare man is at loggerheads with his live-in girlfriend whom he accuses of threatening him with death and insulting him over his erectile dysfunction.

He is also accusing his lover of cheating on him, selling their household property and denying him access to their Chikanga lodging.

Shaibhu Phiri last week approached the Mutare Civil Courts seeking a protection order against Spiwe Ndlovu.

Phiri told Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato, that he was facing a torrid time at the hands of Ndlovu.

“Your Worship, I wish to stay in peace. This woman is giving me hell on earth. She mocks my manhood, saying it is dysfunctional. Yes, it is true that I suffer from erectile dysfunction, but she should not mock me about that.

“I want us to separate in peace, sell the property we acquired together and share the money. She has been threatening me through text messages saying ‘Panofa munhu (someone will die)’.

“I no longer feel safe because I realised she has been bringing her boyfriends at our lodging. I also saw pictures of her being cosy with her boyfriend in her phone. She is also in the habit of selling the property we acquired together.

“In addition, she has been chasing me away from our Chikanga home. She is denying me access to the house and she stays with the keys,” he said, adding that he is the one paying rentals for the Chikanga lodging.

However, Ndlovu pulled a shocker as she made a counter application for a protection order against Phiri.

“I also want a protection order against this man Your Worship. He is not my husband, but just a boyfriend. This is not his house. We are renting it and the property belongs to me. He never bought the property in question, it was bought by my ex-husband,” she charged.

Mr Chipato, however, granted the protection order in Phiri’s favour.

He ordered Ndlovu not to insult, assault, threaten and harass Phiri for the next five years.

He further ordered Ndlovu not to allow Phiri access to their lodging and not to unreasonably dispossess of their household property.
