NGEZI Platinum Stars coach Rodwell Dhlakama – who traces his roots to Chipinge – has welcomed the Chibuku Super Cup semi-final draw and declared that they are gunning for gold.

The Mhondoro miners were picked to take on impressive debutants, Cranborne Bullets, in the last four during a draw that was conducted in the capital yesterday.

In the other semi-final, league champions FC Platinum face Harare giants Dynamos who have been on a roll in the competition.

The semi-final matches will be played at National Sports Stadium during the weekend of November 20-21, while the final has been slated for December 4.

Dhlakama’s charges have so far lived up to their pre-tournament favourites billing and the former ZUPCO Mutare player has challenged his players to rise to the occasion and deliver after losing the previous final.

“We are bracing for the challenge. To have made it this far means that every team among the remaining four is good. Cranborne Bullets will provide us with a stern test as they are proving to be no pushovers and we are preparing well for that. As a team, we are taking it one game at a time and keeping our eyes on the ball,” said Dhlakama.

The shrewd tactician is delighted with Mutare-born striker Nyasha Chintuli’s net-busting form and will be looking to him for goals.
