RUSAPE now has two confirmed cases of Covid-19 following the admission of a 27-year-old woman at Rusape General Hospital Isolation Centre on Sunday.

The woman, who gave birth five days ago, tested positive on her return from South Africa where she had visited her husband as well as to purchase clothes for the new baby.

Rusape District Medical Officer Dr Tendai Nyafesa confirmed the cases and said the woman is admitted at the hospital isolation centre with her newborn baby.

Dr Nyafesa said her condition is mild, but when the district health taskforce visited her Tsanzaguru homestead, they concluded that her living circumstances are not conducive for a patient who has just given birth.

She was then moved to the main isolation centre.

This is the second Covid-19 case in the town after a male returnee from the United Kingdom tested positive. He was self-isolated at his house in Castle Base suburb.
