THE Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation has commenced the drafting of a communication strategy that aims to market the activities of the ministry as well as protect and enhance the its image.
Officially opening the communication strategy workshop in Mutare on Tuesday, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, Dr Thokozile Chitepo said the activities of the ministry need to be communicated to the public.
“Through this communication strategy, I am confident that we will have more wins than failure. The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation will deploy proactive internal and external communication in order to inform all members and stakeholders about topical issues as well as protect and enhance the ministry’s image in this new media world.
“The communication strategy aims to market the activities of the Ministry vis-a-vis the country’s economic blue print, National Development Strategy (NDS1).”
The workshop, which ends today (Friday), is being attended by departments in the ministry, directors of communication and advocacy from other ministries and public relations heads from various parastatals.
Deputy director, communications and advocacy in the ministry, Mr Ranson Madzamba said all stakeholders will be catered for by the ministry.
“The drafting of a robust communication strategy will ensure that a plan is laid out in communicating programs for the youths, as well as the development of the sports and arts sector, among other things.
“We are going to involve athletes and artistes so that they become part and parcel of the strategies,” said Mr Madzamba.
