RESIDENTS of Ngangu Township in Chimanimani, who are still realigning their livelihoods after the devastating effects of Cyclone Idai, were left all smiles after receiving groceries and clothes from Johane the Fifth of Africa Church last Thursday.

More than 1 000 households benefitted from the donation.

The church leader, Prophet Andby Mukururu said the people of Chimanimani are still in need of assistance even though two years have gone by since the disaster.

“It is clear that the people of Chimanimani are still in need of assistance even though two years have gone by since the disaster. There was a lot of destruction during the cyclone and many families lost their breadwinners, hence the need to keep assisting them.

“The Covid-19 situation has also worsened the challenges that the people of Chimanimani are facing. I really want to urge people from different walks of life to keep thinking about the people of Chimanimani in these difficult times,” he said.

Ward 15 councillor, Councillor Pangani Chirongera, thanked Johane the Fifth of Africa Church and implored other religious denominations to spare a thought for the people of Chimanimani.

“This is really commendable. We really want to appreciate what Johane the Fifth of Africa Church has done to us. We have families that are struggling to make ends meet and these donations ease their challenges. We sincerely hope that other churches and other different organisations will emulate this good gesture,” he said.
