A CHIPINGE teenager (17) killed his 29-year-old brother, accusing him of wearing his clothes.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wisemen Chinyoka confirmed the incident which happened last weekend at Munyokwere Village under Chief Mutema’s area.

He said on October 31, the accused, Abel Munyokowere, and his brother, Kudzanai were drunk and were seated in their kitchen hut when they had a misunderstanding.

“The two parents, Ms Elizabeth Kuwe and Mr Farai Munyokowere had gone to work on their piece of land at Maunganidze Irrigation Scheme when the brothers argued over clothes. Kudzanai was wearing Abel’s clothes, and this did not go well with him.

“An alteration ensued resulting in Abel picking up a flywheel joined to a half crankshaft from the back of the door, and struck Kudzanai who was lying on his back on a mate,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.

He struck him thrice and left him lying on the mat and went away.

“Abel later returned home around 7pm, and narrated what had happened to their parents who had returned home. The parents did not bother to take Kudzanai to hospital, neither did they file a police report,” he said.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said on November 1, Kudzanai complained of stomach pains and no action was taken.

“On the same day, Kudzanai’s condition deteriorated and was rushed to Birchenough Bridge Hospital where he was admitted after his father had filed a false report to the police stating Kudzanai was injured after being involved in an ox-drawn cart accident.

“Kudzanai later died while admitted at the hospital,” he added.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said on the same day, police at Birchenough Bridge received an anonymous call stating that Kudzanai was assaulted by his young brother.

“Police attended the scene and Kudzanai’s father was interviewed, and admitted that he had made a false report,” he said

Abel disappeared and is still at large.
