THE entire Eastern Highlands is now moving towards the peak of the winter season, with temperatures expected to fall to as low as five degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Services Department has said.
According to the Met Department Zimbabwe weather report and forecast issued yesterday (Monday) and valid until tomorrow (Wednesday), frost is expected in some areas as temperatures decrease drastically.
Very cold morning conditions are expected in most areas, with slight ground frost expected at Matopos, Gweru, Henderson, Chivhu, Marondera, Nyanga and Mukandi.
However, the report notes, it should be sunny countrywide and it will be warm in the afternoon.
“Forecast indicates that clear cloudy skies are expected in most areas although parts of Masvingo, Manicaland, Harare Metropolitan and Mashonaland East should experience brief cloud periods. It will be cold in the morning, with slight ground frost in frost-prone areas (Chivhu, Gweru, Henderson, Marondera, Matopos, Mukandi and Nyanga) and becoming much warmer than of late by the afternoon. Slight ground frost may affect horticultural crops such as tomatoes,” reads part of the report.
