A TONGOGARA Refugee Camp resident, Dudu Fred from Burundi, is seeking sponsorship and collaborations with local artistes to fulfil the dream of recording his music.

In an interview on the sidelines of the launch of a mental health wellbeing programme at the camp last week, the dreadlocked singer said he is passionate about music and developed interest at a young age.

He came to Zimbabwe from Tanzania in 2008.

“I started liking music when I was very young. I do reggae music and I am keen to record my music. I have more than 20 songs ready for production,” said Fred.

Fred can sing in Kirundi, Kiswahili, English and Shona although he is still working on perfecting the latter language.

The 42-year-old musician added that he is versatile with playing several music instruments.

He said: I can play the guitar, drums and the keyboard. I am looking for sponsorship to record my music and also open to doing collaborations with other local singers.”

Fred’s songs touch on a multiplicity of themes including the environment, peace and justice.

Those willing to assist Fred in recording his music or do collaborations with him can get in touch on 0713 170 150.
