CHIPINGE army outfit, Chipinge Bullets, have taken an early lead in the Chipinge-Chimanimani Division Three League where they still remain unbeaten. So far, Chipinge Bullets have played six matches and won all, but one of them. However, Bullets will not have it all on a silver platter as second-placed Jatai, based at Tanganda Halt, are breathing down hard on the log leaders’ neck.
In an interview, Chipinge-Chimanimani Division Three League chairman, Innocent Mlilo, commended their affiliates for thriving hard to fulfil their fixtures under extremely difficult economic conditions.
Mlilo said his administration was in the process of organising a cup competition for teams in the league.
“We are happy with the way the teams are fulfilling their fixtures and it gives us hope for a better future. In fact, we are also satisfied with the level of competition in the league.
“It appears the team on the top will not have it easy. There is healthy competition and that is what we need for the league to be more exciting.
“However, we are also working out modalities of having a mid season cup competition as a way of giving an incentive to the affiliate clubs for partaking in the league,” said Mlilo.
Apart from the two pacesetters — Chipinge Bullets and Jatai, the nine-team league also comprises Lowveld-based Musapingura, Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM), New Years’ Gift, Chimanimani Bullets, Chipinge Marc and tea growers, Roscommon.
Mlilo said more teams were expected to join the league soon after completion of payment of affiliation fees.
