THREE Zimunya brothers are at each other’s throats over sorcery allegations.
The Machikiti brothers are accusing each other of using supernatural powers to harm their families and properties.
The sparring brothers recently appeared before Headman Chigodora’s court.
One brother, Tinashe, claims that his siblings Gift and Abraham are behind the misfortunes befalling him.
He alleges that they have been casting spells on his crops, cattle and children.
“It is no secret that Abraham has been sending snakes to my homestead. At one time, he called me and asked if his messenger had arrived and if I had properly taken care of him. The messenger was a snake that had tried to attack my family.
“I do not know why he wants to kill me because when I still had money, I used it to look after my extended family, including him. At one time a Mozambican traditional healer called and told me that Abraham had hired him to kill me through spiritual means.
“When I asked Abraham about it, he did not deny it. Instead, he told me that it was our other siblings who had sent him to eliminate me,” said Tinashe.
However, Abraham and Gift denied the accusations.
They said Tinashe is in fact the wizard.
The duo said Tinashe has been using his influence in the family and community to tarnish their image and incite violence against them.
Gift said at one time he collapsed and almost died as he was receiving spiritual help at a church shrine.
“When I woke up, Tinashe called to check if I was still alive. If indeed he is not involved in all this, how come he always suspiciously calls to check up on me,” he said.
Gift claimed that at one time Tinashe confessed to him that he had acquired wealth enhancing goblins that were terrorising him.
“He told me that he acquired wealth enhancing goblins when he was drunk. By then, he had a lot of money. We all envied him, despite questioning the source of his wealth. I love my brother so much, but he accuses me of wizardry,” he said.
“Tinashe said he would buy my coffin, yet I was not even ill. I asked him what he mearnt and he told me that he wanted Abraham and me dead. He also told our mother that he possess wealth enhancing goblins. However it seems like our mother does not care as she receives goodies from him,” said Gift.
Abraham said Tinashe has been trying to stop the family from consulting traditional or spiritual healers over the matter.
“At one time he said he could not attend the consultation because he wanted to fix his car. The excuse was so lame and we concluded that he did not want to go with us to consult a traditional healer.
“He claims that he is being forced to consult traditional healers. He is refusing to play ball, yet our family members are dying because of his goblins.
“The traditional healers say they want all of us to be present at their shrines so that the challenges bedevilling us can be permanently dealt with.
“He recently visited my home and threatened to stab me with a knife. We are biological brothers, but it seems as if we are strangers,” he said.
Tinashe insisted that their mother should also be summoned to the court as a witness.
Headman Chigodora referred the matter to acting Chief Zimunya’s court.
