Just as Blabber was thinking he has seen it all, boom, something very strange starts unfolding right before our eyes at the heart of our beautiful city.
The long and short of it is there are two mental health patients – a man and a woman – who are enjoying very good and expensive meals every single day.
Yours Truly is wondering who exactly is buying these packs of expensive take aways from top notch eateries for these two people of no fixed aboard.
If this was out of benevolence and goodwill, surely the ‘Good Samaritans’ would be seen handing over the goodies in broad daylight.
Somehow, the secret benefactors choose to give them food in the dead of the night.
If you think Blabber is lying, then take a walk uptown. As you are about to reach the premises of that other popular funeral parlour whose name has something to with comforting the bereaved, you will see a mental health patient who last knew how it feels to have water on his body only God knows when.
The man continuously paces up and down a very short distance near the entrance to this funeral parlour for the whole day. This has become a daily routine.
His daily stroll is obviously made easier by the expensive food packs he gets almost every night.
New and branded empty paper bags and take away food containers are permanent evidence of the good food that this man consumes every night.
Behold, he is not the only mentally challenged person having sumptuous meals in town. There is a woman who moves around with her two children and is often spotted near that other service station located close to one of our markets known for being green.
Sadly, the father of this woman’s children is obviously not willing to publicly declare his affection for her.
All we now know is that the man is providing sumptuous meals for this woman in the dead of the night.
African as l am, may l be forgiven for assuming that whoever the benefactors of these two people are, they are doing it for ritual purposes in order to enrich themselves from their suffering.
Blabber really feels challenged to go deeper and unravel the identity of these midnight sponsors.
It is just a matter of time I guess.
By the way, Blabber now understands why this other law enforcer — the bell that rings the loudest and shines the brightest – is working overtime and demanding bribes from various business men around the city.
The bleaching law enforcer is struggling to meet the costs of taking good care of his girlfriend who resides a few yards from the law enforcer’s workplace.
However, this is a story for another day.
After all, these are the things that men do for love!
