Arthur Marara Motivation for  Success

“I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do something I can do.” [Helen Keller]. We live in a world whereby people are very busy with their own lives, businesses and the like and have little or no time for other people.

The world today is in need of people who will bring hope and love to it. There is need for some people who will stand in the gap. Greatness that excludes people is not greatness at all. Take and help people up the ladder and you will find yourself sooner on top. Be a source of hope for someone.

Greatness is in making other

people great

I have said this several times, “Greatness is in making other people great.” No one chooses a background, but we find ourselves in them. Some people are born into palaces, some are born in to squatter camps, some are born into fortunes, and others are born into significant debt to mention a few of the cases that people find themselves in.

Les Brown one of the leading motivational speakers in the world was born in abandoned building and adopted within two weeks of birth, Steve Jobs the Co-Founder of Apple Inc was adopted at birth; Elizabeth Magaya (I wrote about her last time) found herself a “mother” at 13, Dr. George Washington Carver was born a slave.

Their lives are now associated with greatness. This fact should awaken the need to lend a helping hand and to reach out to other people. Help someone become who they were created to be. Great people are never intimidated by the thought of helping other people become great.

Be a miracle for someone

Many a time we hope and pray for miracles for other people, forgetting that we can be a miracle in ourselves when we offer our lives to helping them achieve their dreams.  The small things you take for granted in your wardrobe, office, home and so on can be a great breakthrough for someone when you give. When we move towards helping other people accomplish their dreams, we also move towards accomplishing our own dreams. The quickest way to your miracle or breakthrough is by being a miracle for other people. Econet Holdings has done and is doing a great job for underprivileged students through the Capernaum Trust. Thousand of orphans are going to school and indeed this is a great miracle.

You might not be able to send a thousand students to school, but you can certainly afford to send at least one in the midst of the rural areas. There is a lot that you can do with your life when you choose to live a life of selflessness and hope. Allow your life to be an instrument by which people can have the hope of a better life. Our success in life will be measured by what we have done in reaching out making a difference in the lives of other people

Find something to give

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” [Sir Winston Churchill]. Great people always look for opportunities to give. There is a lot that you can give in life more than just money. Money is not always everything in life [it can buy the best medicine but not health, it buys a bed but not sleep, it can buy food but not appetite, it can buy a house but not a home etc.].

You can give your time, your love, your happiness. There are however, people who really need financial help; you need to help in this regard. Find something that you can give. You cannot solve all of the world’s problems but you certainly can do something that you can afford.

Make use of what you have and make a difference. Look around you, your wardrobe, children’s toys, library, wardrobe, kitchen etc and find something that you can give. You do not have to wait to become a millionaire until you can give something. God tests you on your faithfulness on the little before you can be entrusted with the plenty. Mother Theresa once noted that, “If you cannot feed a hundred, feed just one person.”

Every day is an opportunity to make a difference

Every day is an awesome opportunity for you to contribute in the life of other people. God did not create us to be reservoirs, whatever He gives us, he expects us to give it back. Commit your business to giving something to the lives of other people.

Teach your children to give whilst they are still young. I am a product of someone else’s generosity and selflessness. There was a point that I thought I was never going to be able to complete school, I lost my father when I was 13 years of age, and my mother was not employed.  When all seemed to have come to an end, someone came in and allowed God to use him as an instrument and a doorway of hope. He paid for my school fees, upkeep, up to University level, not because he was rich as some people would want to assume, but because of a commitment to making life worth living for someone. Today I am now an attorney, author, entrepreneur and speaker and I am now also able to reach out to other people. It is not about what other people can give you, it about what you can give. Make a difference!

The story of Dr. George Washington Carver

The name George Washington Carver might be familiar to a lot of people who might have studied a little bit of history. He was born a slave, stolen by slave raiders at some point in time, given his master’s name George Washington and a nickname “Carver” to distinguish him from one of America’s founding father, George Washington. He walked long distances to school, but worked his way to become an authority in agriculture. History records that he discovered over two hundred uses of peanuts. This was a major victory for many black farmers who for long had been accustomed to the growing of cotton. His discovery gave the bulk of these farmers access to alternative crops which improved their lives.  He became a doorway of hope for many farmers who had been liberated from slavery but did not know much to do in agriculture. Why the labour of taking time to narrate his story, I just want to encourage you to be a doorway of hope to someone. Great people are hope bearers. They inspire hope and confidence in other people.

Take time to think of other people not just for the festive season, but as a lifestyle. In doing you will make a difference in the lives of many people. Dr. George Washington Carver’s grace has an inspiring inscription which I think will inspire you as well, “He could have added fortune to fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honour in being helpful to the world.”

Remember, Great people make other people feel and become Great.
