The eleventh edition of the Barauta tournament gets underway this weekend in Chipinge East where nine primary schools and an equal number of secondary schools battle it out for the top two positions that will be contested for on 26 July 2014. Traditional leaders love sport over and above their involvement in matters of statecraft. The late kraal head, Davison Mambi Sabarauta left a trust fund administered by his children to perform philanthropic deeds and sponsor ball games in the Mount Selinda and surrounding areas.

Family spokesperson, Pumulani Dube, said: “Tazviona, Tazviona B, Chimana, Nyamadzi, Zona, Mount Selinda, Dimire, Emerald schools will tussle for two tickets to the soccer and netball finals in the primary school category. On the other hand, Green Valley, Chimana, Mount Selinda, Emerald, Beacon, Jersey, Gwenzi and Muzite cancel each other in the secondary school category.”

The tournament will have its finals held at Mount Selinda High School on July 26. It will be a weekend to remember for the communities concerned as teams battle to be there for the finals that are bankrolled by the local business community.
