The Manica Post on September 13, 2019, published a story headlined ‘Rusape councillors under fire’. The story stated that Ward 4 Clr Elizabeth Chidza abandoned a funeral in her ward to attend the ZITF event in Bulawayo in April. The story further stated that Clr Chidza politicises assistance to the elderly and job opportunities in the town adding that on several occasions she had turned away people, especially the elderly, in need of help.
Also in the same story, it was reported that the Makoni Central MP Honourable David Tekeshe also politicises assistance to the elderly as well as job opportunities in Rusape, and has on several occasions, turned away the elderly along political lines. It has since come to our attention that the contents of the story were false accusations. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to the reputation and integrity of both Clr Chidza and Hon Tekeshe.
