A FAMILY from Mutare’s Murambi low-density suburb lost cash and jewellery worth close to $3 000 from two cheeky armed robbers who pounced on their residence last Saturday night.The criminals who were armed with a pistol each got away with $1 500 and jewellery worth $1 400.
Manicaland police spokesman Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the robbery which occurred at around 7:30pm.
“The criminals pounced on Ryan Torrie’s house at Number 4 Zimunya Road. The complainant is employed at Light House Christian Church and was at home with his family. They were sitting in the dining room with the door wide open,’’ he said.
The robbers, who were wearing black face masks got into the house through the open door and were armed with pistols. While inside they tied the complainant with a rope and told him to lie on the ground. They demanded cash and cell-phones.
Said Inspector Kakohwa: “As one of the robbers tossed the complainant, the other guarded the complainant’s wife – Jackie Pamela Torrie – and their two children.”
