THE country’s 44th Independence Day commemorations are gaining momentum here at Murambinda A Primary School under Buhera District in Manicaland Province.

The annual event kicks off with the President’s Children’s Party, a prelude to the Independence Day commemorations set for tomorrow at Uhuru Stadium (Murambinda B High School).

The Children’s Party will see His Excellency, President Mnangagwa, addressing children of school-going age from all the provinces of Zimbabwe, with the biggest number drawn from the host province.

Before the Children’s Party main event, the First Lady, Amai Dr Auxillia Mnagagwa, who is already here, will have an opportunity to assess the progress of the Nhanga/Gota initiative where young children receive advice on social matters from their elders.

Pomp and fanfare is already building up as the Prison Band takes to the stage, much to the excitement of the early birds.
