After his wife deserted him for neglecting his family, a Mutare man is threatening to wipe off his entire family and committing suicide.
Praise Tongoona recently appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato as she was applying for a protection order against her ex-husband, Denny Mundeme.
Testifying in court, Mundeme said there was no reason for him to remain alive after Tongoona dumped him.
He said he is an epileptic patient and Tongoona understands his condition better than anyone else.
“I called Tongoona’s employer and told him that my life is now stagnant without her.
“ I told her boss that I was coming over to her workplace to commit suicide. I cannot live without her.
“I am sorry for everything that I did that resulted in her leaving our matrimonial home.
“I believe that given a second chance, I will make amends and become a better man,” said Mundeme.
In response, Tongoona said she was fed up with Mundeme’s lies.
She said she left to save her children from the constant threats on their lives.
She said Mundeme should be barred from visiting her workplace as she was recently reprimanded by her boss over Mundeme’s unruly behaviour.
Tongoona also pleaded with the court to bar Mundeme from visiting her place of residence as she fears that he might fulfil his threats of killing their children.
“I do not know what he has up his sleeves. One of these days I might get home to see my children dead. I fear for their lives,” said Tongoona.
She added: “I was reprimanded at work after Mundeme called my boss and threatened to commit suicide at my workplace. I do not want him to visit or call my bosses.”
Mr Chipato granted the protection order in Tongoona’s favour and also advised Mundeme to seek counselling.
