THE Miss Tourism Zimbabwe national finals which were initially set to be held in Harare have been moved to Montclair Hotel and Casino in Juliasdale, Nyanga.

The pageant will now be held on December 14, 2019.

A sashing ceremony and boot camp will also be held in Nyanga in a development that will spotlight the Eastern Highlands as a majestic tourism rendezvous.

A sashing ceremony is an event meant to introduce the finalists and individuals to the press, key stakeholders and audience. It is an official endorsement of the finalists.

Finalists from all provinces will arrive in Manicaland for the boot camp from December 8 till the finals.

The will have an opportunity to visit tourism sites in Nyanga and the Vumba.

“It’s confirmed, and we are excited about the development. Having such a big event in Manicaland is an ultimate dream come true. We are happy that this year’s event will be held in Nyanga.

“The finalists will be hosted by the Montclair Hotel and Casino. We want to thank them for coming on board and ensuring the successful planning and hosting of this event,” said Miss Tourism Manicaland licence holder Carol Marufu-Buwu.

“We want to thank the people of Manicaland for their continued support in promoting the girl child and raising awareness and promoting the Manicaland tourism brand. We hope to seize this opportunity to sell the Manicaland brand to the people of Zimbabwe. We are still talking to key stakeholders, but have an array of activities lined up for the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe team.

“This is an opportunity for companies to market their services and products on this national platform to reach a wider audience,” she added.

Manicaland will be represented by the reigning Miss Tourism Nicole Musiyarira and the first princess Rutendo Mafuratidze.

Marufu-Buwu was confident the duo will represent the province well and pull another shocker.

The Eastern Highlands is home to scenic sites such as the Chimanimani Mountains, Mt Nyangani and National Park, the Bvumba Botanical Gardens and Bvumba Mountains, as well as Mtarazi Falls and Bridal Veil Falls in Honde Valley and Chimanimani, respectively. It also boasts endemic species of wildlife and modest accommodation facilities.
