Satan doesn’t have a satanic face

SATANISM is not vampire behaviour, drinking blood and indiscriminate witchcraft, going through the bones of the dead, tearing off and enjoying human flesh.

It is not about William Shakespeare’s cauldron . . the witches’ pot boiling. Well, these too are obvious satanic wickedness, but a lot of it is beautiful sinning. I will talk about beautiful sinning later on.

Those who were lucky to read “Macbeth”, one of Shakespeare’s best, will remember what was boiling and babbling in the witches’ pot: fillet of a fenny snake/eye of a newt/toe of a frog /wool of a bat/tongue of dog/puff adder’s fork /blind worm’s sting/lizard’s leg/owlet’s wing . . . hell broth boiling and babbling: scale of dragon, tooth of wolf, liver of blaspheming Jew/ gall of goat.

Satanism at its best! But not all satanism is obviously witchy.

For now, let me underline a very stubborn truth. Every human being serves one master or the other.

And there are only two masters, not three.

There is God on one hand and the devil on the other. There is no neutrality even amongst those who may not be conscious of their alignment.

The fact that you do not consciously subscribe to God or Satan does not mean you exist within a third realm . . . for there is no third.

Both masters (God and Satan), each has its ambassadors in every aspect of life, in every set up of community, every work place, church, work place, school, college, university, family and home.

Like the Biblical wheat and tares they grow up together, work together, mix and mingle everyday but each faithfully serving his or her master.

Sometimes the clashes and conflicts that happen at work, even the resentment against each other, the bad blood and sometimes outright hatred without any specific point to trace back to, are a mere tug-of-war of that which is holy and that which is satanic.

When the God in one and the devil in another clash, oftentimes the vessels (the human beings) being used as the battlefield are unaware.

All they can say is, ‘I have no idea why he or she hates me so much . . . I don’t know why he/she enjoys arguments, quarrels and scuffles with me.

What the hell did I do to him or her?” Nothing. It may well be your masters in both of you quarrelling. Every work place and assembly of human beings, for whatever purpose, has these phenomena at play.

Some individuals or groups of individuals, pockets of friends or colleagues, are busy, knowingly or unknowingly pushing their master’s agenda.

It is critically important for every human being to examine his or her allegiance.

Is it to God or to the devil? Whom do you wake up to serve every morning? Whatever you wake up to do every single day, whom are you serving?

I am not here referring to your employer, for this one too has a master he or she serves in the final analysis. I mean do you speak, think, dress up, act and do whatever you do for God or the devil?

If you ask God or if you seek His answer and wisdom, He will tell you. Listen to the faint soft voice in your heart at the back of the inner chamber of your heart.

It speaks the truth. You know how you are serving mammon. You know how you are excitable in the midst of people, how you and you alone want to speak and be heard, how you are attention-seeking in the way you rattle in public thinking you are the smartest or cleverest, how you dress to please, to attract, not God, but Satan, though you do not call him thus how you intrigue, backbite and mudsling against other people, how you antagonise people, especially friends, how you gossip and lie and seek favours from bosses in the work place.

How you borrow money from everyone and do not give them back. How you speak irresponsibly in public and mistake jeers for cheers.

How everywhere you are you choose obscene language and not hygienic words and expressions.

You mock God in public in your jokes and foolish excitement and people make you feel clever, smart and cheerful.

They know you are foolish. They will never tell you until you discover it yourself. Useless boisterous merriment foolish jokes, are not of God.

They are the devil’s shenanigans to woe you to hell. Be careful! All the time!

Wherever you may be! Check your dress, check your language, your jokes and most of all, be in good terms with all persons — do not be snobbish. You are not the only one beautiful or who matters.

Meredith Hodge “Knowing When to Speak” and “When to Be Silent” —April 1, 2016) says, “As believers, we are put in a position to influence those around us.

The power of our words can be used to build up or to tear down. Ecclesiastes 3:7 tells us that there is a time to keep silent and a time to speak. But when? How?

“To discern the difference between knowing when to speak or be silent, we need to humbly seek the Lord through prayer, immerse ourselves in Scripture, and ask for His wisdom and discernment.”

She proceeds, “Naturally, when we are not opening our mouths, we are more inclined to open our ears-whether toward others or toward God.

We are forced into self-reflection and obedience in our silence. Which will only further our ability to listen to the Spirit. Scripture tells us that silence can help us avoiding sinning (Proverbs 10:19), gain respect (Proverbs 11: 12), and is deemed wise and intelligent (Proverbs 17:28).

In other words, you may be blessed by holding your tongue — self-control (therefore) is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22)

How many of you or us have an urge to be seen and heard in public?

“In our pride and foolishness,” Hodge continues, “we itch to prove our point and end up speaking in anger.” Let me add, ‘Oftentimes it is not anger even. It is simply being noisy, raucous, strident, boisterous and foolish.’

We must know when to speak and when to be silent. God knows when. The devil has no idea. Spouse, friend, loved one, parent, child, teacher, learner, workmate — when do you think you will speak? When do you think you will choose to be silent?

This is a silent assignment.

Work on it alone. Throwing the cards on the table or putting it to open discussion gives chance to the devil to urge you to begin to argue, to quarrel and to be a proud fool.

Remember what peace there may be in silence. Some say silence is golden. Others say empty vessels make the most noise. Wisdom says ‘still waters run deep’. All these wise sayings were meant for fools to learn how to become friendly with God and man, including woman.

Let us learn to be quiet and calm Christians, not noisy, gossipy, proud fools.
