THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce is finalising the nominees list for this year’s 2019 Manicaland business awards slated for May 31 following a rigorous adjudication process.  The venue is yet to be announced. ZNCC regional manageress for Manicaland and Chiredzi, Ms Perpetual Guwila said that organisations and individuals will be honoured in 13 categories.

The awards are meant to honour outstanding companies and businesspersons, who excelled in their business endeavours for the past year.

The categories include the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champion which will honour an organisation that has achieved outstanding results through key initiatives that demonstrate leadership and commitment to excellence in corporate social responsibility.

Other categories are businessman/woman of the year, ICT innovation, tertiary institution, financial institution supporting msme, rural businessperson of the year, public enterprise, young entrepreneur, enterprise development support, business leadership and lifetime achievement.

“A shortlist of five nominees per category will be deduced by the adjudication committee based on aggregate nomination forms submitted.

“All five nominees will be expected to submit their profiles (company and person) for finalisation prior to arriving at the top three. The five nominations are vetted and tallied by the independent adjudication committee void of ZNCC influence that consists of an array of captains of industry in varying fields and disciplines.

The top 3 finalists are notified of their eligibility to a ZNCC award and are invited to attend the awards ceremony where the Winner and 1st Runner Up will be announced to the business community,” said Ms Guwila.

In last year’s awards, Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company excelled after they walked away with the Sustainable Development Goal Champion award, while the company’s chief executive, Dr Moris Mpofu scooped the business leadership award.
