THE Zimbabwe talent show that was held over the weekend at Courtauld Theatre was a huge success amid revelations that show tickets were sold out.

A number of participants, drawn from across the country, also thronged the venue to showcase their numerous talents.

The event was organised by The Sky Crew movement. The show was widely cast to accommodate a number of artistic disciplines, among them modelling, singing, instrumentation, choreography and poetry. Most of the participants were unemployed youths, who embraced and welcomed the move by the Sky Crew Movement. In an interview, event spokesperson Kudzai Chiwocha said all went smoothly as had been expected for the auditions and the final show.

“We are excited to launch the first edition of our talent show. It is still at its infancy, but it went smoothly as youths from across the country participated. We had expected that only people from Manicaland would showcase their talents, but the call for auditions went viral across social networks and we ended up accommodating some participants from other provinces across the country,” he said.

“What has come out clearly is that the participants lack and need exposure. The current scenario leaves them on the unappreciated side of fame and at the end of the day they are looked down upon by accomplished artistes.

“The talent is there in abundance, and our platform will help nurture them. They have what it takes to climb up the entertainment ladder. All they need is support, which we are ready to offer,” said Chiwocha.

He said the talent show will be an annual event, and funds permitting, they will offer lucrative prizes for winning contestants.
