LOCAL and foreign artists are tonight (Friday) expected to participate in the much-awaited “Wish you were here” Post card exhibition to be held at National Gallery of Zimbabwe where they will be showcasing drawings and photographs of prominent places in Mutare. The exhibition is a Zim-USA partnership where photographers and artists from the two countries are marketing notable places in their respective areas to each other through vivid photographs and immaculate drawings.
The event starts at 6pm and Mutare mayor, Tatenda Nhamarare is expected to be the guest of honour.
National Gallery of Zimbabwe regional director, Elizabeth Muusha, said notable areas in Mutare that would be showcased in drawings include Moffat Hall, Civic Centre, Mutare Hall, part of Herbert Chitepo Street and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe offices. “We are partnering the City of Detroit in the United States of America with the main aim of marketing the City of Mutare to people who live in that country.
Drawings of prominent places in Mutare will be taken to the USA as a tourism marketing drive to market our city as well as our country. Foreign photographers and artists also did the same by taking photos of prominent places in Detroit in the USA and showcased them here. Artists will showcase their expertise by coming up with magnificent drawings of notable places,” she said, urging people to come in their numbers and be part of the exhibition.
Artists and photographers who came up with different photographs and drawings are Eden Gowero, Biland Sharon, Christwish Mulunga, Enock Musumbure, Brandon Muchabaiwa, Kundai Mharadze, Biggie Matore and Abraham Mudefi among others.
