A DANGAMVURA man proved that it is not only thieves that have sticky fingers after he was arrested for stealing from the premises he was guarding.

Tinotenda Dhliwayo (18), who is employed by Paragate Security Company as a security guard, recently appeared before Mutare magistrate Ms Prisca Manhibi facing theft charges.

He was accused of stealing a pair of safety shoes and four pairs of work suits at Dream Away Investments in the Nyakamete Industrial Area while on night duty.

Ms Tafadzwa Chiwanza prosecuted.

“On September 18, the accused was on night duty and stole a pair of safety shoes and four pairs of work suits from the premises. The theft was discovered the following morning by Mr Jason Manyengwa, a mechanic at the company, when he had reported for duty,” said Ms Chiwanza.

Mr Manyengwa reported the matter to the police.

“Investigations were carried out, leading to the discovery of the stolen property from Dhliwayo’s house,” said Ms Chiwanza.

He was arrested and the property worth $9 350 was recovered.

Dhliwayo pleaded guilty to theft and was remanded in custody to October 5 for sentencing.
