A 44-YEAR-OLD Zimunya woman has been sentenced to 70 hours of community service for possessing six sachets and 15 twists of dagga.

Cresencia Mawadze pleaded guilty to the charges of possessing dangerous drugs when she appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi and said she sells the dangerous drug for a living.

Ms Tinotenda Muzondo prosecuted.

The court heard that on August 24, detectives from CID Mutare received information that Mawadze was in possession of and selling dagga at her house.

“Detectives went to Zimunya and introduced themselves to Mawadze. The detectives searched her house and recovered the dagga which was hidden in a lunch box,” said Ms Muzondo.

The recovered dagga weighed 53g.

Meanwhile, eight men – Takunda Kasira (31), Tafadzwa Njobo (21), Brilliant Chinyowa (28), Matthew Kefafi (20), Mcdonald Kapfumvuti (28), Denford Chikono (30), Hugh Mashingaidze (29) and Takudzwa Karetsu – pleaded guilty to smoking dagga when they appeared before the same magistrate.

The detectives proceeded to the house and arrested the eight.
