A RUSAPE man recently bashed his wife with a broom stick and stabbed her with a knife over infidelity allegations.

Wilfred Nyakuedzwa (39) of Vengere was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate, Mr Gift Manyika.

He was facing attempted murder charges and was remanded in custody.

He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Public prosecutor, Ms Theresa Mangwende, said Nyakuedzwa battered and stabbed his wife, Ms Sithembile Norleen Dube (35), at a local service station, as he accused her of cheating on him.

“Accused person and complainant are husband and wife and on October 27, Nyakuedzwa called his wife. He suspected that Ms Dube had gone out with a boyfriend.

“The two later met at a service station and Nyakuedzwa ordered Ms Dube to get into his car. Nyakuedzwa confronted her, thereby resulting in a misunderstanding. Nyakuedzwa assaulted the complainant with a broom stick several times all over the body.

“He went on to stab her with an okapi knife once under the right armpit. Ms Dube reported the matter to the police. She was referred to hospital for medical attention while Nyakuedzwa was arrested,” said Ms Mangwende.
