WHAT started as a merry-making traditional beer binge last Friday ended tragically when a 22-year-old Buhera man was allegedly killed by two villagers over unknown reasons.

Konerai Ndiuraye died after sustaining serious injuries all over his body.

He was allegedly attacked by Last Magaya and Kelvin Chapwanya until he breathed his last.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident and said it happened in Munyati Village under Chief Chitauro.

“Magaya, Ndiuraye and Chapwanya were having a binge at Agnes Toro’s homestead when a neighbour, Leopold Munyati, heard them arguing,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

“The argument degenerated into a fight and Munyati later saw Magaya bolting from the scene.

“Munyati realised that Ndiuraye had passed away and alerted village head Rodrick Tichaona about the incident. Headman Tichaona went on to inform the police.”

When the police attended the scene, they saw blood stains two metres away from the scene.

“Magaya and Chapwanya were arrested as they were the last two people who had been at the crime scene. Their clothes matched the description made by the witness and also had blood stains,” said Inspector Kakohwa.

He said the two suspects are assisting the police with investigations.
