IT has not been all roses for Mutare artiste Lionel Matanda, popularly known as Caff, who is due to release his first full album — “A Boy from Mutare” next Saturday.

This will mark the dawn of a new era for the Dangamvura-based artiste.

The album will be launched at Courtauld Theatre where a galaxy of youthful artistes such as Pumacol, Pastor Tinashe, Diamond Boys, Darly Boi, Rutendo Jackie, Swat Sound, Evonzo, Real Eazie and Trapper will perform.

Throughout the new album, Caff exudes lyrical ingenuity and excellent music arrangement that will certainly touch the hearts of many.

The album has 12 tracks — “Manager”, “Mufaro Bedzibedzi”, “Pakata” (featuring Boss Pumacol), “Muzembere”, “Ndide”, “Bvisa Mutoro”, “Dai Mandiona” (featuring Oskid), “Bonita”, “My Chocolata”, “Meet Your Papa” and two bonus tracks “Dhiya Iwe” and “Formula”.

Caff believes this is his time to shine.

“I believe this is my time to shine. I took my time to come up with this album and I believe a lot of people will fall in love with it. Oskid and Pumacol featured on this album to diversify and add fresh ingredients to my beat. I know my fans have already fallen in love with songs such as ‘Manager’ and ‘Mufaro Bedzibedzi,’ which I pre-released a few weeks ago.

“I included some acoustic guitars on some of the songs and I am looking forward to a top-drawer performance at the album launch. I will also be on the podium to celebrate my birthday,” he said.

The new album tackles various issues such as love, betrayal, forgiveness, faith and hope for a brighter future.
