THREE marauding machete-wielding robbers were this week nabbed in connection with a spat of robberies recorded in Penhalonga.

The latest one was a carjacking in Old Mutare.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said the three – Simon Jingo, Peter Kasu, and Kudakwashe Chavhunduka – are among the suspects who have been terrorising people in Penhalonga and Dorowa areas, robbing them of their hard-earned cash and valuables.

The three were last week nabbed during a police raid in Dorowa.

Three generators, a homemade riffle, a submersible pump, two machetes and two okapi knives were recovered.

“They were arrested in connection with the carjacking of a Mazda vehicle belonging to Mr Ananias Maitire of Number 33, Brooksview, Old Mutare.

“The accused approached Mr Maitire with machetes and sticks, and ordered him to surrender the Mazda 1.5 tonne car keys. They tied his hands with a rope before driving off.

“Police in Dorowa nabbed the three and recovered the vehicle a few days later. The suspects had with them three generators, a homemade riffle, a submersible pump, two machetes and two okapi knives,” said Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.
